Best ever!
These are really the best cookies I have ever made. The addition of ground pecans makes for a wonderful texture, and the balance of shortening with butter makes it flavorful and it rises nicely. It's been my go-to recipe for quite a while!

Not my cup of tea
The cookies were tasty, but not exactly what I like. The cookies were hard. My kids liked the flavor but did not like that they were hard also. I think next time a box of vanilla pudding should be added to soften it up.

Gourmet = Shortening Taste?
I thought these cookies tasted too much like the 1/2 cup of shortening required in the recipe. If I were to do this again, I think I would reduce that amount.
