snow day lifesaver
We live on the southeast coast and my children have not seen snow in 4 years. Imagine our fun to wake to 4 inches this morning. I didn't have any hot chocolate mix in the house, but I had Nestle cocoa powder. I looked up the recipe and the kids thought it was the best hot chocolate ever.

Yummy with a couple of changes
We use a bit less sugar when we make it because otherwise it's just too sweet. I also love putting in different flavors than the vanilla extract. One of my favorites is a touch of orange extract :)

Old-fashioned Goodness
Sounds like the traditional way to make hot cocoa (the way we did when I was a child, before the little instant packets came out!) Once you have it this way, the other way is just not as good!

YUMMY Quick Fix
I used this recipie when I ran out of packets. I noticed that another "best baker" tried it so I gave it a shot. The kids were raving about it tasting different. It was that I had used milk instead of water (like the packets sometimes suggest). They loved it.
