Pretzels used to be your only choice for low-fat snacking. Now your options are almost limitless. Good snack choices include:

  • nonfat and baked tortilla chips
  • baked potato chips
  • bagels
  • pita bread
  • low-fat cereal
  • gingersnaps
  • graham crackers
  • rice cakes
  • rice puffs
  • potato puffs
  • rye crisps
  • sourdough pretzels
  • add salsa as a tasty, low-fat dip
  • Dried fruits are satisfying and packed with nutrients
  • fresh fruit has the added value of fiber
  • If you love popcorn, invest in an air popper or a special microwave popper. If you want more flavor, add 1 teaspoon of oil or melted butter. Better yet, add sea salt or other seasonings such as paprika, cayenne or goma-shio (toasted sesame seeds and sea salt.)
  • Frozen non-fat yogurt can be almost as satisfying as ice cream
  • Make your own frozen fruit juice bars
