These utterly delicious Spicy Scallop Dumplings are a special treat the whole family can enjoy. It's fun to make these up together and make it a family affair! Serve warm with Soy and Chili Dipping Sauce. Recipe compliments of cookbook author Ying Chang Compestine.
Ingredients:
1/2 lb. fresh scallops, finely chopped
1/4 cup finely chopped white onion
1 1/2 tablespoons MAGGI Seasoning Sauce
1 tablespoon MAGGI TASTE OF ASIA Cooking Soy Sauce
2 teaspoons sesame oil
24 to 26 round (gyoza) dumpling wrappers
2 tablespoons canola oil, divided
1 cup water, divided
Soy and Chili Dipping Sauce (recipe follows)
Directions:
COMBINE scallops, onion, seasoning sauce, soy sauce and sesame oil in large bowl; mix well.
DIP one edge of wrapper into water. Spoon about 1 1/2 teaspoons of scallop mixture into center of wrapper. Work with 1 wrapper at a time (cover remaining wrappers to keep them from drying). Fold the wrapper over to form a half circle, pressing the dry edge on to the wet edge. Pinch the edges together to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling. Place dumplings on baking sheet. Cover loosely with a towel to keep them from drying.
MIX 1 tablespoon oil and 1/2 cup water in large, nonstick skillet. Arrange half of the dumplings in a winding circle in the skillet, leaving just a little space between each one. Cover; cook over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes or until dumplings turn light brown and puff up.
REPEAT procedure with remaining 1 tablespoon oil, remaining 1/2 cup water and dumplings. Serve warm with Soy and Chili Dipping Sauce.
FOR SOY AND CHILI DIPPING SAUCE:
COMBINE 1/4 cup MAGGI TASTE OF ASIA Cooking Soy Sauce, 2 tablespoons rice vinegar, 1 1/2 tablespoons finely chopped green onion, 1 tablespoon MAGGI TASTE OF ASIA Sweet Chili Sauce and 1 teaspoon sesame oil in a small bowl.

I absolutely love this recipe. The taste is amazing. I definitely agree that a double-dose of soy sauce is necessary. I would also suggest to season the meat before cooking it with a little season salt and poultry seasoning. It turned out perfect!!!

This is very simple to make and tastes wonderful. I use rice noodles instead of rice for a different twist. It has become a staple recipe in the house!

greetings. Made this last night - it was nice however could do with some more flavour. I think i would make it again but perhaps add a bit more flavour to the sauce like some allspice or chilli. Otherwise it was an excellent base!

Easy and tasty
Karina Bezerra from
This recipe was somewhat easy to make. It was tasty; not too strong on the ginger, but enough flavors to mimic a lighter chinese dish. I added a little extra white wine at the end. Family approved. We will make it again soon.

I was pleasantly surprised at just how good frozen vegetables can taste. This dish is full of flavor and really simple. I marinated the beef overnight and it turned out great

This was as good as getting take out from a chinese restaurant. Definately would make again. I used more fresh veggies and they worked excellent. The sauce is a great base for variations. My kid loves veggies, such as broccoli, onions, mushrooms, as it is, so this is definately kid friendly.

This was easy to make and delicious. I've made this a few times with beef or chicken. My 2 little picky eaters enjoyed the chicken a bit better. This will be a regular dish at our house.

I tried this recipe at the last minute. It was great, I used frozen veggies with asian noodles instead of the rice. I had to substitute a few items because I did not have them but it still came out great. This is definitely one that I will use again. Highly recommend.

A delicious alternative!

My husband and I simply adore Chinese take-out, but of course it's not economical to order in all the time. So we are absolutely thrilled with this recipe! I used water instead of wine, and it was still incredibly flavorful. We definitely recommend this one!!!

This recipe was excellent and I highly recommend it. I don't have a lot of time to cook and usually rely on ordering in or take-out for most of our meals, but I decided to try this one. This recipe was simple and fool-proof. My husband and I really enjoyed it and will definitely be making it again.

I was looking for something to cook using round steak and came across this recipe. I didn't use wine or ginger and it still came out great. I am not a very good cook and usually screw up everything but my husband and my 1 yr old son LOVED IT! I would definitely recommend. It did take me a little longer to cook though, but I didn't mind.

I've tried all the Create-A-Meal stir-frys and enjoyed them, but my husband and 8 year old son really didn't like them. This recipe was quick and easy and got everyone's attention with the wonderful smells as it was cooking. I used the frozen vegetables and went completely by directions. I used brown rice instead of white which made it even better. Next time I'll use fresh veggies and maybe a few unsalted peanuts and that should put it right over the top. I'm adding this one to my Recipe Box furr shurr!

I like this recipe. I used the water instead of the white wine and didn't use green onion (I hate onions.) I also used white rice, because it's what I had. The meat was really tender and the vegetables flavorful, and the gravy just brought it all together. Plus it cooked in no time.

The steak I think should've been cut into smaller strips. Had a good flavor, even though I couldn't find any ground ginger like the recipe called for. Not a quick meal to fix. Since I don't like spending a lot of time in the kitchen, I probably won't make it again.

This was a GREAT recipe. We made it with fresh zuchini, onions, carrots, and celery. In the picture it appears to have broccoli, which the recipe does not call for. When we added broccoli it didn't taste nearly as good, but is a good side dish. Enjoy!
