Use every last bit of leftover ham in a comfortingly creamy soup seasoned with hearty cannellini beans and other on-hand staples like frozen peas. Make a larger batch and freeze to enjoy bowls of steaming and flavor packed Ham-It-Up White Bean Soup at any moment.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 small onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 can (12 fl. oz.) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk
1 can (14.5 fl. oz.) reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 1/2 cups (about 6 oz.) cooked ham, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 can (15.5 oz.) cannellini (white kidney) beans, undrained
1/2 cup frozen peas
Ground black pepper (optional)
Directions:
HEAT oil in medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook, stirring occasionally, for 1 to 2 minutes or until onion is tender. Stir in flour. Gradually stir in evaporated milk and broth. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Add ham, beans and peas. Heat through. Season to taste with pepper.
TIP:
• One cup coarsely chopped spinach leaves can be substituted for the peas.

Smoked Turkey and Sun Dried Tomato: tastes great!
Dawn Littlefield from
SKOWHEGAN, ME
I rate this recipe as good. Good indeed because it is easy to prepare, flavorful, and cost contentious but it provides too many fat calories. I would have used maybe lowfat creamcheese, sour cream or even some yogurt to provide the calcium and lower the fat. In this day and age of rising health care cost and expanding waist lines I think it is important for all to be learning ways to eat right and still enjoy our food!

Soooooo good!!!
LISA LOMBARDO from

Wow, wow, wow! I love these blondies. I chose to bake mine in a 9x13 pan because I like them thicker. I had a bag of the chocolate and peanut butter morsels that I wanted to use, so I substituted them for semi-sweet!! Excellent! Just a touch of peanut butter flavor. They were so delicious..thicker like a brownie should be. This recipe is a keeper!!!

I've made these blonde brownies 4-5 times and they're always popular. Instead of using just the chocolate chips, I use a combination of white chocolate, peanut butter, butterscotch, and semi sweet chocolate chips. They are delicious. I also bake them in a 9x13 in. glass pan so they are pretty thick and dense. Be sure to adjust baking temp and time as necessary.

I cook / bake professionally, and I was worried about the consistency of the batter- it's very runny for brownies. But, never fear, they baked and set up nicely. One hint. Sprinkle the candy chips on top of the batter. They won't necessarily sink to the bottom of the dough.

A hit everytime!
Cassie Collis from

I originally found this recipe in the Nestle Toll House book: Best Loved Cookies, that I had borrowed from a public library. Unfortunately, I had to return it, but only after I had baked this recipe. My family instantly loved them and we took them on our 2-day camping trip and came back with none left! Just last week, I was doing some baking for the next camping trip and wanted to make them again. I found the website and the Blonde Brownies Recipe and made them, and again, they have been a huge hit! Thank you Nestle, this recipe is a sure hit everytime!

Everyone Begs for this Recipe
Tressa Cincotta from
NY
I've been making these for years now, so much so that I no longer need the recipe. Everyone raves about these & begs for this recipe. These are simple to make & absolutely delicious. They have enough chocolate for chocoholics, but not too much for those who are not. I often measure out a second batch (flour mixture in one container & brown sugar in another,) which makes it super easy to whip up a batch in minutes. Highly recommended!

I am a short order cook at an American Legion and sometimes get bored when we're slow. So instead of scrubbing walls I typically bake. I usually make cookies but found this recipe on the back of the chip bag and decided to try it. Although my chocolate chip cookies are always a hit these brownies were gone before they cooled. I had two gentlemen fight over who wanted to buy the whole pan, and we don't even sell desserts!

I made these blond brownies to go on a "dessert tray" of bar cookies I baked for a family gathering. Everyone devoured them! They look tempting arranged on a tray with traditional chocolate-walnut brownies and a frosted cocoa brownie, all cut the same size, nestled inside seasonal cupcake papers for serving. I am the baker in my family, so I'm asked to bring dessert...I always use Nestles chocolate chips and baking chocolates. I'm having a great time trying new recipes...Thanks for the web site!

Excellent! Soft and chewy, almost like a bar cookie, and the recipe makes a lot. Bake only until a pale golden color, or the outer edges will get over cooked. These make a great base for brownie sundaes. Just add vanilla ice cream, hot fudge sauce and whipped cream, and you have a fabulous restaurant style dessert!
