recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 large russet potatoes (about 2 pounds total), scrubbed, each cut lengthwise into 10 to 12 evenly sized wedges (or cut into 1/2-inch-thick sticks)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons fresh rosemary leaves
  • 1 teaspoon MAGGI Instant Chicken Flavor Bouillon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

PREHEAT oven to 475° F.

PLACE potatoes in a large bowl; cover with hot water. Soak for 10 minutes (this will help remove the starch). Drain the potatoes. Spread the potatoes onto a kitchen towel; pat to dry. Place potatoes in a large bowl; toss with oil, rosemary, bouillon and pepper.

ARRANGE potatoes in a single layer on a large, rimmed baking sheet. Cover tightly with foil. Bake for 5 minutes. Remove foil; bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes or until the potatoes are golden brown.

SCRAPE the potatoes loose from the baking sheet with a metal spatula; flip over using tongs. Bake for an additional 8 to 10 minutes or until evenly browned. Serve immediately.

This pie was wonderful. It's simplicity combined with the flavors make it a hit. The layered look gives it that visual appeal, which is only added to by the toasted coconut. The only thing that left me disappointed was the overly-sweetness. Next time, I will likely decrease the sweetened condensed milk.

    Simply Delicious!

    lori pegram from ELLENBORO, NC

I made this for my Family for Easter dinner. It was a big hit. I know I will be making it again. The toasted coconut really sets the flavor off! Although, I will opt to leave out the bananas next time. The Banana cream pudding was plenty flavorful. Simple but devine.

    Really Good Too!

IRMA DONATO from CAMERON PARK, CA

This was simply a perfect recipe! Easy to follow, easy to make and great tasting! My husband doesn't care for really sweet pies, so I used only have the can of milk and added a little more water to make sure there was enough liquid. It came out perfect, no difference was noted. Less calories too!

This pie tastes fantastic and super easy to make, too. I had never made a banana cream pie before and this recipe will certainly have me making it again. Looks and tastes like you spent hours in the kitchen, but you didn't! Thanks meals.com for another great recipe!
