Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (8 oz.) dry penne pasta (or small pasta of your choice)
  • 2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cans (12 fl. oz. each) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk
  • 1 can (15 oz.) LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin
  • 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups frozen peas, thawed

Directions:

COOK pasta in large saucepan for 1 to 2 minutes less than package directions (pasta should be slightly firm in texture); drain.

COOK beef and onion in large saucepan over medium-high heat until beef is no longer pink; drain. Reduce heat to medium. Stir in evaporated milk, pumpkin, tomato sauce, sugar, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder and black pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture begins to simmer. Add pasta and peas; stir until heated.

TIPS:
• Freeze half the casserole for another meal. Thaw in refrigerator and reheat in microwave or on stovetop.
• Using pumpkin and evaporated milk not only adds depth of flavor, but also sneaks in extra nutrition to the casserole.

This is an amazing meal. My two children are quite picky and I was nervous on the pumpkin part. But... it turned out they all loved it, even my husband!! Everyone was shocked when I told them what was in it. My kids didnt like the pumpkin part, but they finished the whole meal!!!! This was one of the healthiest and best meals Ive ever made!! I will definetly make this meal many times again!!!

Not a hit at my house.

Lisa Sparks from KANSAS CITY, MO

My husband and 3 year old hated it. Husband ate it but son actually gagged, even though he did not know about the pumpkin. I thought it would be just the thing since they both love beefy noodly stuff. I thought it was just okay, could definitely taste the pumpkin. Maybe less pumpkin, more seasonings to add some flavor.

    Pumpkin, are you kidding me?

KIm Peters from Granite City, IL

Were the first words out of my husbands mouth after devouring this meal. Now I can not wait to try it as a twist on my roasted pork, peppers & penne recipe. They should have rated this recipe amazingly easy though as I have found some 30 minute recipes tried in the past to take sometimes as long as 45 minutes, but this one is true to form!! I would have frozen half, but my son & daughter in law stopped by, and were more than happy to finish the rest:)They were also amazed by the flavor the pumpkin gives to this meal, and as suprized as my husband when I told them. Would have never thought of it myself, and I am considered the great experimentor!

I've never made a meal with ground beef, noodles and pumpkin in it, so when I saw this recipe, I couldn't resist not making it. With 3 children who are quite fussy, I was quite nervous with what they would think about it, but the surprise was on me; all 3 liked it! It was even more fun and quite the discussion over our dinner table when they tried guessing what the ingredients were. It was even more fun seeing their face expressions when I ended up telling them and they still ate it. My family doesn't like peas, so I just omitted them.

Needed a treat in a pinch. Teenagers requested brownies. Had a big bag of chocolate chips that I use for cookies. Found this recipe. Will never use a box again. Easy to make. Did melt chips and butter together in microwave. Also, 5 minutes before finished baking, topped with chocolate chips and then mini baking chocolate candies. Back in oven for remaining 5 minutes. Teens love them. And they're pretty. Messy with toppings to slice. Plan to try brownie bites in mini muffin pan so no slicing needed... will let you know.

My daughter and her boyfriend enjoyed these brownies straight out of the pan as piece by piece the brownies played a disappearing act. I call them the one-pan wonderful brownies. The kids put a large brownie at the bottom of a bowl, scooped 2 large vanilla ice cream servings on top, added whipped cream then drizzled chocolate syrup over the entire dessert. They were in heaven. The rest of the night, like little mice, the kids grabbed brownies until there were only 4 pieces left. These are the best brownies I've ever made and tasted. Kudos to the brain child of these wonderful treats. Recipe as is.

    Very Good w/minor substitution!!!

    Jamie Feldman from Phoenix, AZ

I thought these were really good & very easy to make. The first time I made these, I followed the recipe exactly (the reason for my rating of 4 stars instead of 5). The second time I made these, I used 1/2 cup of white sugar & 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar, instead of the 1 cup of white sugar the recipe called for. I think substituting w/the dark brown sugar enhanced the flavor of the brownies.

    Reina Rivera-Ortiz from BURLINGTON, NJ

I think the ingredient that's missing is SALT.....Salt brings out the sweetness, without salt the brownies taste very bland. I am baking them again tonight with 1/4 teaspoon of salt added to everything else.....I will keep you posted.

    Really delicious!

    Paula Swaim from CORONA, CA

These brownies took only a few minutes to make and just 22 minutes to bake. I used mini-chocolate chips, and instead of mixing the second cup of chips into the batter, I sprinkled the chips on top of the batter after I had poured it in the pan. It looked really pretty having all the mini-chocolate chips sprinkled on top. I also added 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the batter as it seemed to make it taste a little better. These brownies were a huge success. Everyone loved them and they didn't last long. I love how all the ingredients are easy to measure and you don't have to cut a stick of butter in half or use partial bags of anything. I especially love how everything is prepared in a saucepan! I will make this recipe often.

    Best brownies

    Haizel M from BRONX, NY

These brownies were incredible! They were easy to make and a huge hit. My cousin took half of the batch home. This was the first batch that I didn't share with my co-workers. They were chocolatey, chewy and very yummy...everything a brownie should be. I added pecans and they were a wonderful addition.

    Delicious and sooo easy!

    LISA LOMBARDO from TURNERSVILLE, NJ

Wow! These were the easiest brownies I ever made! I went to get my mixer ready and realized I didn't need it! It was the perfect recipe because I wanted to make brownies that used semi-sweet chips (always have them in my house). I like my brownies thicker, so I baked them in a 9x9 square pan. I used some whole wheat pastry flour, too. You can't even tell! They were great. I think brownies taste better the day after when they have seasoned! Very good recipe!

This brownie recipe is so easy. No double boilers required. The texture is rich. I make mine with pecans. If you are feeling a bit adventurous, you can add a spash of bourbon or Frangelico into the batter. This brownie recipe is the BOMB!

    Easy Double Chocolate Chip Brownies

Lenora (Lee) Hendrix from MOUNT VERNON, TX

Looking for a chocolate receipe to make for a desert for Thanksgiving Dinner and found this one. My son-in-law is a chocolate nut so when I saw this I decided to try it. He asked what they were and I told him, and he tried them. I cut the squares into 4x4 and he had them eaten in two bites with the ones he put on his plate. The rest of his family also likes chocolate and they were a big hit. The receipe is so easy and are very moist. I will make these again to take any place or for home.

I first discovered this recipe on the back of the Nestles chocolate chips bag and it has been my "staple" brownie recipe since- and this was back in the late 70's! Occasionally I add raisins- always a big hit! Eveyone always asks what my secret is...
