Thick and delicious french toast is excellent for a Sunday brunch. You'll love this made-in-the-oven variation.


  • 1 package STOUFFER'S Harvest Apples, defrosted
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 pieces of bread

MELT butter in 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Add brown sugar and Harvest Apples; stir well.

WHISK eggs, milk and vanilla extract in medium bowl until well combined.

DIP bread into egg mixture; place on top of apples.

BAKE in preheated 350° F. oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until bread centers are firm.

*DEFROST Harvest Apples in microwave on 50% power for 6 to 7 minutes.

I panicked when I couldn't find this recipe for Christmas brunch in my loose mess that I haven't put in a recipe book yet. My grandchildren love this and look forward to it at the Holidays. Thank you for having it on the website. My recipe came from the apple box a long time ago. Happy Holidays.

I made this as a dinner with smoked sausage. It was quite good but a little on the dry side, we fixed that with warm maple syrup! My daughters enjoyed it so we will definitely have it again.

Great for Brunch

What a winner!

I've just made this for a weekend breakfast, and we both loved it! I'm dieting, so made a few changes: I used a large Delicious apple, halved and sliced, used oat milk instead of whole milk and cut back on the sugar, because oat milk is sweet-ish anyway. It was superb, and my husband has asked if we can have it again tomorrow. New husband, must spoil him!
