I love Black Forest Cake and this is a quick and easy way to get that great taste. I have used brownies froma mix to make this too, and substitute a little Kirsch for the liquid, giving it a more authentic taste.

Tried this recipe it was okay as far as brownies go Just isn't my thing, for some reason I just don't like brownies. To me they always taste burnt, nothing wrong with recipe just my taste buds. I will however make them for my daughter-in-law she loves brownies.

I think that substituting crushed strawberries in sugar would be good too in place of the cherry pie filling.

    From Freezer to Table

LYNN CUDA from LITTLE FALLS, NY

The thing I like about this dessert is that you can make brownies ahead of time and freeze them. (I freeze them individually in plastic baggies.) Then, as needed, take them out of freezer, microwave, and add toppings. A very simple way to have a beautiful-looking, very tasty dessert for drop-in company, and it looks like you baked that very day! Also, no waste. Only defrost as many brownies as you need, but keep other ingredients on hand.

This was a hit with everyone and immediately added to our notebook of favorite recipes. My eight-year-old daughter made this for dessert. This is a great recipe that will encourage a beginning baker's interest in baking with its elegant results and simple assembly.
