The bars were good. The chips did not melt enough to spread, even after returning to oven as suggested in review, so the bars had soft choc chips on top. May try melting chips in microwave next time then pouring on top. Batter sticky, suggest lightly flouring fingers when spreading dough in pan. Made in 13x9 pan and cooked in same amount of time.

    A few tips

    Ann Walsh from Fayetteville, NC

I have been making these bars for about 35 years now and still love the way that first bite tastes fresh out of the pan. To save time, add parchment to the jellyroll pan to aid in removal of the bars- be sure the parchmaent hangs over the edges enough to grab like a handle. Next, once the crust is baked and you're ready to add the chips (I use only semi-sweet)sprinkle them evenly across the dough crust and them pop tray back into the oven with the temperature turned off. There should still be enough heat to quickly and gently melt the chips. Take the tray out once they've softened enough to spread with offset spatula, and score into the desired number of squares. Once the chocolate has chilled and set, it will make cutting much easier. Enjoy!

    Flour-y!

SONIA LINGSWEILER from COLLEGE STATION, TX

Made these for the first time. I lightly spooned the flour into the cup and leveled it with a knife, so I know I didn't use too much, but all I can taste is FLOUR! They're dry and not very tasty. My three boys didn't ask for seconds...

CHERYL KAULUKUKUI from MANHATTAN BEACH, CA

English Toffe is one of my favorite candy, so I figured this recipe would be scrumptious, and it surely was. Next time I will have to double the recipe. By the time I had finished the dinner dishes, my family had devoured them and only left me one small piece. I guess you would say they really liked them!
