Ingredients:

1 pkg. (14.5 to 16 oz.) angel food cake mix
1/2 cup NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Baking Cocoa
Powdered sugar
Strawberries (optional)

Directions:

PREHEAT oven according to cake mix package directions.

COMBINE cake mix and cocoa in large mixer bowl. Prepare and bake according to cake mix package directions. Sprinkle with powdered sugar; top with strawberries.

I made this cake for our community block party, and it was well received. Some chocolate desserts do not survive the heat of an outside June afternoon, but this cake did great. It is not as light as an original angel cake, but all in all it is a nice change. It is especially good with strawberry or vanilla ice cream!

Maybe our humidity was too high that night or maybe my cocoa was not fresh enough, but the cake did not come out as moist and fluffy as I would have liked. It also stuck to the pan, if I make it again I'll be sure to flour and grease.

This cake is really great. and easy to make too. Years ago when I made an angel food cake I had to beat 11-12 egg whites until stiff, and then slowly fold in the flour, and dry ingredients, then put it into a cake pan without one speck of grease on it or it would not rise. while it was baking you had to creep around the kitchen for fear of making the cake fall. Now with the angel food cake mix's that come with easy directions, every cake turns out PERFECT.
