Excellent taste. Easy to make. Only reason for the 4 is that the bottom crust was very crumby, didn't hold together well.

    nikki pals from PALATINE, IL

Very easy!!!I love making bar cookies because they are fast. Thest are great the shortbread type crust bottom sets this apart from other bar cookies. The chocolate center is to die for. I have begun to use the same filling in/on other bar cookies and it is wonderful. I have even added peanutbutter to this for a taste twist. I will keep making these and friends and family keep eating them. Thanks for a great recipe.

These bars were good, but the layers too thin for my taste. Next time I will make them in a smaller pan. I used white, dark and semi-sweet chips for the topping which made it quite pretty.

    Gwen Hodge from Phoenix, AZ

I saw these bars on your website, and decided to make them for a birthday get-together at work. Needless to say, these bars were a hit of the party, and the only thing left were the crumbs. The recipe was so easy to follow. In fact, I improvised and also added white chocolate pieces to the recipe. They were absolutely delicious! I definitely will place this recipe in my "favorite" file, and will not hesitate to make it again and again. Thank you so much for such an easy and decadent treat. They totally blew my diet but they were well worth every bite!! I think at Christmas time I will try making them with the choco-mint swirl & choco-cherry swirl pieces.

This recipe has been around for a long time and understandably so. It is so easy, quick to make and so versatile. My grandchildren do not like nuts, so I add toffee bits instead. I usually make two batches together - one with nuts and one not. They can be cooked in the oven together and save time and energy. I have been asked for this recipe numerous times. Thank you.

    Good Stuff

    Suzanne Vestal from METAMORA, IL

We were out of sweets for the guys, so I made these for them. They are really good. I would add it is very important to grease the pan ( I used a glass baking dish and softspread butter to grease the pan with) or they are a bit difficult to get out of the pan. I used regular chocolate morsels and they were so rich and chocolatey! They would be great to take to a potluck or a picnic dessert.

I love to bake and try new recipes. I baked these bars for a meeting I attended. Everyone loved them. I brought the leftovers to work the next day, and of course, everyone loved them there also. I've already printed the recipe and will be passing out copies. Some might say "too much chocolate", but not ME!

I love to bake like this to take to special occasions or to bake at home and give to my teenager and her friends because they love the taste. This is an all time favorite of mine.

    K. DEGEORGE from ABSECON, NJ

This recipe was easy to make. The crust was crumbly, but had a nice buttery flavor. The chocolate filling was good, but chewy, not creamy. I will make this again, because it is so easy, maybe the filling will be creamy next time?

The crust for this bar was rich but flavorless. I tried making it again by adding more vanilla and salt. In any case could not be saved. Not my favorite, in taste or texture.

Make sure you have some milk handy.

    Samantha Rhodes from Tampa, FL

These bars are definitely for chocolate lovers. VERY sweet. You might even want to considers not adding sugar to the crumb mix. Know your oven and watch your cooking time. You may want to cook less than the recipe calls for unless you like chewy bars.

These are excellent! However, beware that your butter doesn't get to room temp or the first mixture never gets crumby. Very easy otherwise.
