I am so excited. This was so good, even my MIL and SIL were impressed!! Just wish I had known before that you can use an electric mixer to whip the cream...Thought I had to do it by hand... But worth even that effort, it's so good!

This is so good and could not be any easier to make. I have made this three times now and each time it has been a huge hit. I make Extra whip cream so there is more left over to top the pie.

    Really good!

This pie is delicious! I made it to take to a 4-H cooking judging and the judge loved it! I always make a little bit extra whipped cream and then have that to garnish the top with or something like that. Just don't take too big of a piece - it's REALLY rich!

    Tad overbearing

    Isela Arrieta from ,

The procedures weren't as complicated as the recipe makes it sound with the "Challenging" label. However, the only thing keeping this from being a 5 star review is that it was a little too chocolatey for my tastes. However, a bit less cocoa could make it better.

Really easy to make and my family loved it! I added some toffee chips and instead of melted chocolate swirls on top I put caramel.

    Not so Challenging

    Amber Taylor from Covington, KY

This was only the second dessert I've ever made and it turned out excellent. I would omit the chocolate coating on the pie crust, it made it difficult to cut. I didn't have any problems with the pie becoming "frozen" it was creamy, smooth and tasted fabulous!

    Easy and Yummy

    Ms. Carol from Oh

I've made this many times and NEVER had anybody say they didn't like it. Never had a problem with it turning hard or "freezing" which makes me wonder what those other people did wrong. I might try rasberry sauce on the crust instead of the chocolate chips. I never make the crust, always buy it. Keebler does it better!

  • Star(s)

    Tasty but somewhat difficult

    Katelyn from Indiana

This recipe was very tasty but it is not easy if you are a begining cook. Some of the directions were not very clear and making this can be confusing. It is very rich and chocolatety. I would suggest using regular whip cream instead of making your own out of the heavy whipping cream. My pie didn't turn out how I expected it to be, but I am willing to try again. Overall, it is a very delicious recipe.

    Tasty but Very Rich

Nakivia von Biedenfeld from WOODWARD, OK

I love chocolate but this pie was definitely too chocolatey! I would eliminate the layer of chocolate applied to the crust - it made it hard to slice through. Also, after refrigerating over night, I had to let it sit out for a while because the mousse became hard. I've had many chocolate desserts and will have many more; however, this is not one of them. On a positive note, it does go down well with a tall glass of milk! :)

  • Star(s)

    tricky

    stephanie prata from JOHNSTON, RI

to make the mousse in the middle was tricky. the directions did not specify the amount of time to keep it refridgerated. i left it over night and when I tried it the mousse was hard to slice through. it was very chocolately. I used whipping cream not heavy whippng cream and i thought it would be runny but instead it was still almost frozen after refrigeration. i would think to refrigerate over night even when presenting at your meal if the whole pie did not go. it was good but not creamy more like frozen

    Did not enjoy this pie

    CLAIRE OLSON from

This is a very very rich pie. I thought the layer of chocolate that was spread over the crust made the crust too hard, most people ate the mousse part of the pie and left the crust. I like chocolate but this is not a pie I would make again.

Unbelievable!!! I made this for my daughter's birthday and she liked it better than the gift! I did substitue the Nestle dark chocolate baking bar for the chocolate chips; I didn't have any chocolate chips. A local restaurant has a chocolate mousse pie that my daughter just loves, she said that this one is much better. Sue M. Camp Hill, PA

    wonderful

    CAROL DUBLIN from BLOOMINGDALE, IL

I had to make this recipe because it is the only recipe I could find without eggs. (my son is allergic to eggs) It was wonderful!!! The only thing I would change would be to not add the chocolate chips on top of the crust. It makes it to hard for the fork to cut through. I also used chocolate syrup for the topping instead of melted chocolate chips. 1,000 times better then store bought chocolate pie! I definately will make it again.

    EXCELLENT

    A McNelly from SOUTH BEND

This was a hit with everyone I make this for! The only thing is it's really hard to get the chocolate coating on the crust to be thin enough. It makes cutting pieces a little difficult but well worth it!

I made this pie for dessert when my sister and brother-in-law came to dinner on Saturday. My brother-in-law LOVES chocolate as do I. I had a little trouble spreading the melted chocolate chips on the graham cracker crust but that was the hardest part for me. This pie is VERY rich. Everyone could only eat a small piece with a huge glass of milk. It was very good but unless you really love chocolate you could be overwhelmed. The bottom line: This recipe was easy to follow and perfect for extreme chocolate lovers!

  • Star(s)

With this much chocolate, shouldn't the crust be c

Susan Campbell from GRASS LAKE, MI

I made it both ways, with plain and chocolate graham cracker crusts, and found the chocolate to be far superior in flavor. The filling, however, was a little too loose for perfect serving. I will tinker with the recipe and try it again, with revisions, as I believe it can be made even better.

This recipe is so good and not at all difficult. It is extremely rich so if you are not a dark chocolate fan it may be too rich for you. I tried it using coolwhip as one of the other reviews said and it worked out great and was a good time saver and less mess. I will definitely make this over and over again.

With a few modifications - most requested dessert I have ever made. I use 1/2 semi-sweet & 1/2 milk choc morsels so the chocolate is not so overpowering and rich. Using a pre-made graham cracker crust is much easier & saves time; just as good as home made. I also cover the entire top of the pie with whipping cream the next day before serving instead of the dollops. Just like French Silk Pie - mmmm, my favorite and easy too!
