These were super yummy, but I found them hard to cut. I love baking things that look really good and these weren't the prettiest things to look at. Everyone loved how they tasted though and many asked for the recipe.

    scrumptious

Martha Klaver from POMPTON PLAINS, NJ

I just made these for a fellowship luncheon at church and got lots of compliments. The only thing I tweaked was the addition of about 2/3 c. of coconut at my husband's request. He remembered a similar bar his mother used to make with coconut in it. They turned out a little more gooey in the middle than I expected, but that may have been because I was cooking in a glass 13x9 pan or because of the addition of the coconut. They're so sticky-sweet that most people can't resist them... just make sure that you cut them small enough that health-conscious adults will dare the calories. :D

I made these just the other day, and they are absolutely scrumptious. :-) So easy to make and so very yummy. A perfect blend of pecan pie and chocolate. I also used semi-sweet chocolate chips in place of the chunks and I'm so sure it only made a small difference in the appearance. These bars were so easy to make and so delicious that I have decided to make them as gifts for Christmas.

    Easier than pie

    Della Sasso from CHINO, CA

I decided to make these bars instead of a pecan pie for Thanksgiving. Everyone loved them. I lined the pan with the Release foil instead of greasing it. This allowed me to lift the whole thing out of the pan and then cut it into bars on a cutting board.

    Made me look great baker!

    Takako Hall from COLCHESTER, VT

I am Japanese, and most of the Japanese don't eat or make sweets like Americans. So I didn't know much of baking. But one of my hobby(!) is having party and the problem always laid was the DESSERT! But this year's Halloween party, I decided to make something new, and this recipe was the one I chose. It was a big success! Everyone loved and enjoyed, got so many compliments! This recipe was such a show off, because it's extremely easy, yet looks fancy! Now, I can't wait to make this for Thanksgiving party. I'd love to surprise my Mom in law who is a good baker and also a chocolate lover!

A piece of pie in a bar cookie

Peggy Sue McGaughey from SOMERSET, OH

If you like pecan pie you'll like this recipe. As always with new recipes I try them out on the office before family. For nut fans the reviews were great! Good holiday recipe especially if your running short on time and need a quick dessert! I found this receipe quick and easy to put together. Helpful hint - don't over brown your crust in the first baking!

  • Star(s)

    Sinfully delicious and chocolate too!

    Kay Fletcher from STANLEY, NC

This bar cookie is simple to prepare and easy to eat! The crust is rich with butter and the filling is a decadent chocolate pecan pie. My two sisters and I are confirmed "chocoholics" and it was last night's dessert. We didn't even wait for the pan to cool completely. Served with a large glass of cold milk, (or coffee), they were wonderful. The rest of them were taken home by one sister to share with the other chocoholics at her office. This recipe is a keeper.

I wanted to make a sweet snack for my recent move across country that wouldn't be your typical treat like cookies but yet something simple and clean for the car. This was a simple and easy recipe to make and it was perfect to have for the trip. My suggestion to those who dare to take these babies on the road ... individually wrap each bar for easier accessability and a cleaner car!
