Try this delicious chocolate cake topped with a creamy chocolate frosting.

  • 1 1/2 bars (6 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Dark Chocolate Baking Bar, melted, cooled slightly
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1/2 bar (2 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Dark Chocolate Baking Bar, broken into small pieces
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons milk

PREHEAT oven to 350º F. Grease and lightly flour two 9-inch-round baking pans or one 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

BAKE for 25 to 30 minutes (13 x 9- inch 30 to 32 minutes) or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool for 20 minutes; invert round cakes onto wire rack(s) to cool completely.

FROST with Creamy Chocolate Frosting.

Very moist

This is an easy cake to make. I sub buttermilk for the milk and add a little extra and it is better than a box cake. The icing is not bad either.

I love chocolate, and this cake is not only easy, but delicious too. The frosting is chocolatey, and smooth. I like that there is a choice between baking pan sizes. I'll be baking this one again.
