I just wanted to let you know that this recipe was amazing. I gave them out to the kids that my daughter babysits, she has 4 or 5 that she sits with regularly, so we gave each one a treat bag with 3 or 4 squares in it. The kids loved them, they were a real big hit.

These mud bars are terrific and can be adapted to other seasons by using other types of candy on the top.

    Excellent fall homebaked "candy" bars

    Eileen Rubenstein from Newcastle, WA

This has been my fall back Halloween party treat for the past several years! People just love them. They are a bit on the very sweet side, but they are moist, dense and delicious. In fact, adults tend to pick off the candy corn, because they are too sweet. Not a dry cookie bar at all.

I've been making these bars for a long time without the candy corn. From the very first time, I doubled the recipe and used a 9 x 13 pan. Knew right away, the little pan would not be enough! Always a hit wherever I take them! And it is cute with the candy esp. for the kids!

These bars are so easy to make. Takes very little time, and are delicious. My son doesn't care for nuts, so I just keep them out. You can put any decoration on top for any holiday. I tried melting a mint wafer on top. Awesome! Really tasty.

    Good but had topping difficulty

Sue Emory from MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA

I loved the taste of these treats but the melted & then hardened morsel topping cracked a lot and made cutting difficult. Didn't look great but tasted fine. I followed the directions, but let the pan cool overnight, then cooled in frige as directed. Maybe letting it sit overnight was too long?
