This Easy No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars recipe takes just 30 minutes to prepare and has a great combination of chocolate, butterscotch and peanut butter flavors mixed together for a terrific dessert.


  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light or dark corn syrup
  • 1 cup creamy or chunky peanut butter
  • 6 cups toasted rice cereal
  • 1 cup (6 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Butterscotch Flavored Morsels
  • 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels

GREASE 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

HEAT sugar and corn syrup in medium saucepan over medium heat to boiling. Remove from heat; stir in peanut butter. Add cereal; stir until cereal is coated. Press into prepared pan.

MICROWAVE butterscotch morsels in small, microwave-safe bowl on MEDIUM-HIGH (70%) power for 1 minute; STIR. The morsels may retain some of their original shape. If necessary, microwave at additional 10 to 15-second intervals, stirring just until melted. Spread over cereal mixture.

SPRINKLE semi-sweet morsels over butterscotch; press down slightly. Refrigeratefor 15 minutes or until firm.

These are SO wonderful! My favorite kind of bars-hands down! I usually mix together the chocolate and butterscotch chips, but can't wait to try it with the chocolate chips sprinkled instead (or maybe even vice versa). The look is beautiful and I imagine the texture would be really cool too. Thanks for the great idea!

We used to call them Scotcheroos

This recipe is exactly like the Scotcheroos we used to make back in the early 60's in Home Ec. Class- and one that has been published in old "church recipe" book for years...except we would melt the butterscotch and chocolate morsels together- but use one whole package of each 12 oz. of chocolate chips and 11 oz of butterscotch-(is how it is packaged). So why the name change? It is excactly the same recipe!
