    Best ever!

    Shannon Brandner from ,

These are really the best cookies I have ever made. The addition of ground pecans makes for a wonderful texture, and the balance of shortening with butter makes it flavorful and it rises nicely. It's been my go-to recipe for quite a while!

    Not my cup of tea

    Zoila Carroll from Flushing, NY

The cookies were tasty, but not exactly what I like. The cookies were hard. My kids liked the flavor but did not like that they were hard also. I think next time a box of vanilla pudding should be added to soften it up.

    Gourmet = Shortening Taste?

    Eric Watson from Columbus, OH

I thought these cookies tasted too much like the 1/2 cup of shortening required in the recipe. If I were to do this again, I think I would reduce that amount.

    Wonderful Chocolate Chip Cookies

Marsha L. Kiester from KIMMELL, IN

I've loved chocolate chip cookies and baked them for years. These are the best I've ever come across. They are moist and have a wonderful flavor from the addition of the ground pecans. My grandkids don't normally like nuts in their cookies but they devour these. Will make these again. They don't last long around our house. You won't be disappointed if you try them.

I made two batches, one using the original recipe and the other adding dark and white chocolate chips. Also, I toasted the pecans which added another dimension of flavor. They were a hit and my family couldn't decide which were better. I will make these again and again.

I made this recipe twice. First as you have it printed, then the second time, I used ALL Butter, and Splenda brown sugar, 1/2 cup ground pecans, and 1/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour and added 1 Talespoon of flaxseed. I thought BOTH were very good. And to answer some of the reviews, about the baking powder being too much, no not really. You can always make it half powder, half soda, and add 2 tablespoons milk to balance it out. These are good cookies, and I will make them again BOTH ways.

COLETTE JACKSON from ELLICOTT CITY, MD

This recipe was excellent!! I made these cookies as a fundraiser at a Bingo event at my daughter's school, and they were fantastic! I think finely grounding the pecans and adding it in with the flour was the trick to making them "Gourmet". The instructions were clear, concise, and accurate. I will definitely make these again!

They reminded me a bit of those "Famous" cookies. I agree with another poster, check the cookies after 8 minutes. Mine were done between 8-9 minutes using airbake sheets. Next time I will substitute the ground pecans for pulverized oatmeal for a different taste and texture.

As a father of twelve, these cookies were the perfect touch to all of my kids' lunches and snacks. They LOVE these cookies! And I love them too. They are also the perfect family baking project, as they have many easy steps involved, all at the same time, so your kids don't get impatient. Trust me, I know a lot about impatience, as a father of twelve. Just one recommendation - if you've got a fast oven, check them at 8 minutes; they might be done! Have fun baking!

I thought these cookies had a really good flavor. Some people even thought there was cinnamon in them. They were delicious the first day, but after that they became dry, even after putting them in an airtight container right away. But I would make them again, people at work loved them!

SARA LIBBEY from W MILWAUKEE, WI

This recipe is a keeper. Keeper handy that is. You'll be making these often once you start. I toasted the pecans first, which gave them added flavor. I also added butterscotch morssels as well as the semi-sweet. This was a great compliment to the pecans. The dough didn't spread much so I got alot on one pan. This would probably make a good pan recipe as well. Yummy!

I made these cookies for Thanksgiving and was completely satisfied! I changed around the recipe alittle. I added peanut butter chips along with the chocolate and made a batch plain without nuts. I used walnutes instead of peacans, too. Everyone loved them. They were so easy to make. I have to make them again because they are going so quick!
