This recipe is very good. My diet doesn't include pork so I substituted the ham with sliced, sauteed, turkey sausage. That gave it a great taste. I would suggest this to anyone.

Very Very good! Reminded me of a chowder my granny used to make. She also put ham in hers when she made it to use us leftover ham from the holidays. I always looked forward to Easter & Christmas, coz that was the only time we would splurge on ham.....and I knew the chowder would be next! This dish is easy to prepare and is definitely suitable for even a novice cook.

    good, but grainy

    Marcie Tusher from SHAWNEE, KS

this soup was really easy to prepare and made a LOT, but the mashed potatoe flakes made it have a grainy texture. It was also a tad bland. It really needs the boost of flavor from the scallions.

    Yummy!

    J Tulla from SPRINGFIELD, MO

I made this with some changes and it was delicious. I shredded some chicken off a rotisserie chicken at walmart and put that in, instead of the ham and I didn't put the tater tots on it and was delicious. I also added more pepper to give it a little more spice. I felt like something was missing but I'm not sure what. It was still delicious though! My husband and I both ate it up. Next time I will make some Grands biscuits and pour the soup over those, maybe that's what was missing! :)

This recipe brought back memories for my adult son. His two favorite things, canned corn and Tater Tots. What else could you ask for, add ham and you have a great meal. Using the canned milk was a great idea because I don't always have regular milk on hand but I always have the canned variety in the pantry, what a time saver!
