Cocoa mix in a jar

We give this FIVE GOLDEN TEASPOONS as a rating -- cocoa is the drink of choice during Scouting winter events and this not only tastes GREAT but it allows the scouts to have a chance in the kitchen! About the only thing better than this cocoa is the pride/smiles it produces on the faces of my scouts! Love the marshmallows!!

I HAVE MADE THIS RECIPE FOR MANY YEARS BECAUSE IT USES MILK, BUT I DO ADD CREAMER TO THE RECIPE ALSO. EITHER FLAVORED OR REGULAR. STORE BOUGHT COCOA DOESN'T HAVE MILK IN THE PACKAGES.

Our Granddaughter loves her hot cocoa. After adding the mini marshmallows she then uses a candy cane to stir it. As the candy cane melts it gives the cocoa a great peppermint flavor. What kid doesn't like candy canes!!

Hot Cocoa Mix In A Jar

    Lauralee Hensley from

I am definitely going to make these as Christmas Gifts this year. I have lots of brand new home canning jars, and since my garden did not do as well as I would have liked, I am not going to be able to make homemade spaghetti sauce. I actually have many of these ingredients in the house right now, but I'll buy all fresh ones right before Christmas and make these. I think in place of sugar I'll use Splenda for at least two of the gifts for a couple of Diabetic challenged friends.

I love this recipe! I used 2 c. of French Vanilla non-dairy creamer and 4c powdered milk, oh my goodness! I swear, this mix doesn't last long enough to gift to anyone, unless I fill jars and hide them ^^, My 3 yr old loves to help in the kitchen and this is perfect for her since I mix this in a large closable container and she can shake the mix (while it's closed of course, lol)

    Brings Back Memories

    Heather Leiby from DAYTON, OH

My Dad would make a batch of hot cocoa mix every Winter. We kids loved it, and since there was ten of us kids, Dad would make a huge batch. I remember helping and sometimes making more of a mess then anything else! Dad died 5 years ago and I was unable to find a recipe equal to his cocoa recipe (he kept most of his recipes in his head). =) I found this recipe last year and simply love it. It brings back all those good memories of my Dad!
