Marbled Toffee Bars

Ingredients

3 cups quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, (we recommend LAND O LAKES® Butter), melted
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup light corn syrup
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Premier White Morsels
1 cup NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Milk Chocolate Morsels
1/4 cup nuts, finely chopped

Directions

PREHEAT oven to 400° F. Line 13x9-inch baking pan with aluminum foil, extending ends over pan; grease foil.

FOR BARS:
COMBINE
oats and butter in large bowl; mix until well coated. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, vanilla extract and salt; mix well. Press oat mixture firmly onto prepared pan.

BAKE for 12 to 16 minutes or until light golden brown. Sprinkle with morsels. Let stand 2 to 3 minutes until softened. Spread morsels over bar with metal spatula or knife for a marbled effect. Sprinkle with nuts.

COVER; refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours until chocolate is set. Lift bar to cutting board, using ends of foil as handles. Carefully peel off foil; cut into bars. Store tightly covered in refrigerator.

    Marbled Toffee Bars

I followed the directions however, I had to cook it more than it said. And, it never did brown. I thought it was way too sweet. I would call it a candy bar, not a cookie.

    Good Bars!

    Gintte Moores from Oakville, ON

They didn't appear to have a caramel flavour but had a very nice toffee taste. The chocolate tasted good on this bar and looked great swirled. These aren't reccomended for people with braces. They're a little too hard for them.

    Awesome bar cookie!

    ALI MALLARE from Leawood, KS

To be honest, I did not think this recipe would be very good since it called for oatmeal and so many various ingredients; I just couldn't imagine it tasting good, but I was amazed; it turned out to be a favorite among all of my friends and family members this holiday season. I baked over 30 different types of cookies and candies for the holidays, and this toffee candy was my very favorite recipe, and it was even one of the easiest recipes! Thanks for a great recipe! :)

We did not care for this recipe. To us it was more like eating a too sweet granola bar. It just didn't seem like dessert.I won't bake this one again.

    Tasty!

    karla bringas from Glendale, CA

These toffee bars tasted very good, but I was a little disappointed with the consistency of the bottom layer. I would definitely try them again to see if the results came out the same. Overall, however, they were were delicious and easy to make!

    Very good!

Melissa Kidd from N Hampton, NH

I thought these were quite good. They weren't hard to make and were a nice change from the usual bars and brownies. They looked pretty nice, also.
