I lost my Nestles Cookbook and went online to find this recipe. It is truely the best chocolate cake and very easy to make. It is worth the extra time to bake this cake from scratch than to make a chocolate cake from a mix. This cake is very moist and my family loves it. If you want a very moist & tender chocolate cake you have to try making this one.

    Baby Boomers' Chocolate Cake

KATHY HARRINGTON from Myrtle Beach, SC

This is the kind of cake my mother would make for Sunday dinner dessert when I was a kid. It would have been great as an after school snack too, with a cold glass of milk, but with a family of seven kids, there was never any left! This recipe will bring any Baby Boomer right back to their childhood, when life was simpler.

I made a mini ganache and mixed it right in for a more chocolatey taste but overall the cake probably doesn't need it as it is wonderful as is!

    Great Cake

    Carole Miller from Columbia, MD

I made a 1/2 recipe of this cake and substituted soy butter for a dairyless version (allergies). It was wonderful and made a nice sized smaller cake for a family b-day where we don't want so much cake left over- trying to be good :) It rose well (after whipped on high) and tasted wonderful and will make it again.

Michelle McAulay from BELLE FOURCHE, SD

I was looking for a chocolate cake that was super moist. I love for the cake to be real spongy. After reading the reviews I was sure I'd found the one. I was a bit disappointed with how dry it was, but it wasn't so dry that it was bad. It was a good cake, just not what I was looking for. I would make again, but I'm still in search for the ultimate moist chocolate cake!

I made this cake for my son's birthday. Although it is delicious, and very moist, it would not come out of the pans in one piece. I was not able to frost it as it was so moist and crumbly. If I make it again, will probably bake it in a 13x9 pan.

I made this for my son's birthday party and made mini cakes and cupcake cones, as well as a regular cake. Everyone liked it and the kids had a good time decorating their own cones. It wasn't the best cake I have ever had, but it was rather easy and I felt like I accomplished something after making a cake from scratch... MYSELF!!! It was very moist and rich...went great with vanilla ice cream!

Our family was having a "chocolate attack". With not much in the pantry, I saw this recipe on the cocoa box. It was so simple, easy to follow, even a novice baker could make it. My family went wild, they LOVED IT!! I keep box cake mix on the shelf for emergencies, but not now. This is simple and DELICIOUS. I also made the icing recipe on the box and it was a hit. This is a great cake for family, parties or anytime.
