DO NOT USE MARGARINE I made these bars but did not have enough butter so substituted with margarine. The crust crumbled. Butter would have solidified and kept it together. They still tasted great and we ate the whole pan, crumbles and all!

These are very good made with the graham craker crumbs, but an old recipe of mine gave me the idea to substitute 3 - 3 1/2 cups of Crispy Rice cereal and they are great! adds a nice crunchy texture. everyone thought they were tasty! Love the recipes on this site...I always get good results!

    Disappointed

    Stephanie Pastorelle from BRUNSWICK, OH

These peanut butter bars were horrible! I made them for a retirement party and I am now known as the person who brought the crumbly peanut butter bars. Everyone kept asking me what was wrong with them. When you go to bite into them, or get them out of the pan, they completely disintegrate into crumbs! When I think of peanut butter bars, I think of creamy peanut butter on the bottom and rich chocolate on top. These were not like that at all. The chocolate top was really good, but the peanut butter bottom not only tasted bad, but, like I said, completely fell apart into crumbs and you couldn't even eat it! Only one or two people at the party tried them, and I ended up throwing the rest away. No one liked them, and I was very disappointed in this recipe!

    Like eating cookie dough

    Amy Laskin from Yonkers, NY

The texture and sweetness of these are reminiscent of eating raw cookie dough. Whether you like these will depend on how you feel about that. I found them too sweet and a bit greasy, but my coworkers gobbled them up and raved that they were delicious. The bars' flavor remind me a bit of Girl Scout Tagalong cookies. Also, note that although there is no baking, these aren't the quickest thing you'll ever make; there are multiple steps (crushing graham crackers, melting chocolate) that take a little time, plus you need to refrigerate it for at least an hour before eating.
