Regan Jones created this recipe for the Nestlé Kitchens Holiday cookie contest. Mixing old fashioned oats, wheat flour, dried cherries and chocolate gives these cookies a chewy hearty taste that everyone will love.

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup white whole-wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup NESTLÉ TOLL HOUSE Dark or Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels

PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Coat baking sheets with nonstick cooking spray. (These cookies tend to stick.)

BEAT butter and brown sugar in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add egg and continue beating until smooth (do not overbeat). Mix in the honey and vanilla extract. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; beat into butter mixture. Stir in oats, dried cherries and chocolate morsels.

DROP dough by rounded tablespoon onto prepared baking sheets spacing at least 2 inches apart (cookies will spread). Bake for 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned and center is golden. Allow to cool on baking sheets for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
