Several years ago I lost my very favorite bread pudding recipe...now I have a new favorite. This was sooo easy and tasted almost like my old favorite (not as custardy). It's definetly a keeper and can be easily halved for smaller families.

I have not had bread pudding for years. I left out the raisins because I don't like them. I also used multi grain whole wheat bread. Before you say yuk, trust me you can barely tell the difference. I put the caramel sauce over them and it was delicious. I will sure make this again.

Raisin Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce

    Maureen Wilson from Marietta, GA

The bread pudding was very moist and delicious. Everyone that ate is had very good comments and good reviews. I was very happy with the outcome. The only thing I did differently was I assembled it and refrigerated it and then I baked it the following day. I add some chopped nuts and I use a cinnamon bread. This recipe is a keeper. The caramel sauce took it over the top. I already have orders to make some more. Thanks for posting this recipe.

Yesterday was the first time I visited this site and tried any of your recipes. The bread pudding was as easy to make as you said it would be and my family thoroughly enjoyed it. I even sent the recipe for my sister in New Jersey who made it the same day too. I shall be using this recipe from now on, but next time I shall have to make two because one was just not enough. I'm looking forward to my next day off so I can try other recipes you have provided. Thank you for a great web site. Wendy

This recipe brought back wonderful memories from my childhood when my Mom would make bread pudding. I have never been able to duplicate her recipe, and this one comes pretty close. It must be the Carnation milk that makes it taste so good. My Mom always had lots of Carnation on hand for emergencies. Thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories.

    Perfect

    Monique Edwards from HOLLIS, NY

This is exactly the kind of bread pudding that I like. It's somewhat firm and chewy, not like the mush I've had in some diners. My one (rather big) error: I forgot the sugar. But the areas where there were raisins were fine, which makes me think that the amout of sugar in the recipe is a little too much. I will definitely have to try this again.
