2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels, divided
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 large egg whites
1/4 cup water

Directions

MELT 1 cup morsels in a small, heavy-duty saucepan over lowest possible heat. When morsels begin to melt, remove from heat; stir. Return to heat for a few seconds at a time, stirring until smooth. Cool to room temperature.

COMBINE flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl. Beat sugar, margarine and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl. Beat in melted chocolate and egg whites. Gradually beat in flour mixture alternately with water. Stir in remaining morsels. Cover; chill until firm.

SHAPE dough into 1 1/2-inch balls; roll in powdered sugar to coat generously. Place on greased baking sheets.

BAKE in preheated 350° F oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until edges are set but centers are still slightly soft. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

    Very Delicious

I have been making these for years. However, the first year I made them was almost the last! The dough did become very gooey & so difficult to work with! I have found a way that is not so messy. Scoop out a spoonfull of dough, drop into bowl of powdered sugar and roll around in the sugar. Now take the dough & roll ino ball. It rolls so much easier & without all the gooey mess!!!

    Very Chocolatey

These are really good, but I had a heck of a time making balls with the chocolate dough to roll in the icing sugar(messy). Was this not right? Maybe there is a better technique. They're pretty good tasting cookies though!

Review for Slimmer Chocolate Crinkle-Top Cookies

    Jenny Terry from Cincinnati, OH

My family LOVES these cookies. However, because I misread the recipe the first time I used it, I use 10 tablespoons of butter rather than 6. Of course this adds a lot of fat, but we think they taste better. Also, I roll the cookies in granulated rather than powdered sugar. This makes for a very sweet, but oh-so-yummy cookie.
