PREHEAT oven to 400° F.

COMBINE baking mix, water, dry milk, sugar and butter in small bowl; mix well. Drop by heaping tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheet to make four large shortcakes.

BAKE for 10 to 13 minutes or until just golden. Cool slightly. Split shortcakes in half horizontally. Spoon strawberries over bottom half; top with top half. Top with whipped cream before serving, if desired.

NOTE: A mixture of fresh blackberries, blueberries, or raspberries may be used in place of strawberries.

easy, exactly what I was looking for!

It was a fool proof recipe!! I added a teaspoon of orange zest to the strawberries. Also I par-baked the shortcakes before my company arrived. When the time came for dessert I brushed the tops with melted butter and sprinkled on some turbinado sugar crystals. Used a store-bought light whipped topping....YUM!!

It's strawberry season!

I love strawberry shortcake and this recipe was so easy and quick to make. I used Splenda instead of sugar and drowned my shortcake in milk to add extra flavor and it was great.
