    Quick and tasty protein

    Adrienne Guarro from York, PA

This shake is a great way to enjoy a meal on the go - high protein and super yummy. This is faster and more nutritious than going to the drive-thru. You can add 2 TBS of peanut butter for a PB & J taste or a frozen banana for a frosty treat. Oh, and I used regular yogurt because I do not eat anything made with sugar-free sweeteners. Try this recipe; you will love it.

In today's lifestyle, you have to constantly think of ways to get your family eating fresh fruits and veggies and getting the calcium they need. Smoothies are a great way to do these things! This recipe is quick and easy and very tasty. I have varied it several times by using different fruit/yogurt combinations.

Mike Wood from South Windsor, CT

I chose this recipe for my first attempt at making homemade smoothies. It tastes great and only takes a few minutes to put together. I found that I got 4 cups of smoothie from $2.50 worth of ingredients, a much better value than buying a smoothie somehwhere else, where one large cup costs about $4.

Using frozen fruit adds a 'milk shake' like consistency. If you have very ripe fresh strawberries place them in the freezer on a tray for an hour, then put them in a freezer bag until you use them. Remove the amount you need to make your smoothie. Do the same with bananas, rescuing them from going bad. Mixing the two fruits, plus adding a dash of vanilla makes a refreshing treat.
