Sweet, gooey Taster's Choice Java Brownies are a special treat. A touch of coffee flavor gives this delicious version a savory edge.
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
- 3 tablespoons NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE House Blend 100% Pure Instant Coffee Granules
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup (6 oz.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease 9-inch-square baking pan.
MICROWAVE sugar, butter, coffee granules and water in large, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 2 to 3 minutes or until mixture bubbles. Add morsels; stir until melted. Add eggs one at a time, stirring after each addition until well blended. Stir in vanilla extract. Add flour, baking soda and salt; stir well. Pour into prepared baking pan.
BAKE for 20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky. Cool in pan on wire rack for 1 to 2 hours. Cut into squares. Serve with ice cream and chocolate syrup, if desired.

This is the perfect brownie recipe. They are not chewy but more on the cakey side, yet they are not crumbly or sticky. They hold together well when you cut them. They have the perfect balance of coffee, chocolate, and slight vanilla flavors. I have made many brownie recipes, but everyone always comments that these are the most delicious, and they are always eaten right away. I also love that you make the receipe in one pan. I do not microwave it but instead I use a pan on the stove over low heat and it also works well.
