    Great Apple Dessert

    Annette Witherspoon from GEORGETOWN, TX

I made this & it turned out good. If it had not been for the topping it would have been a little dry. I made it again & doubled the ingredients & made it in a bundt pan. I spread some of the topping on top of the bundt & put the rest of it in the middle so when you cut a piece of cake you also scooped out topping as much or as little as you desired. This worked great.

Amy Weinberg from Pembroke Pines, FL

This had to be one of the most delicious desserts, not just coffee cakes, I have ever made! I served it at Thanksgiving, along with 9 other desserts, and this went the fastest! The warm apple topping -- still yummy the next morning cold for breakfast -- was amazing over the top of this slightly coffee flavored winner of a dessert! As soon as I'm off Atkins, I'll be making it again!!!

Easy to make. I did change the recipe a bit. After putting the brown sugar mixture in the pan I layered thinly sliced apples over that and THEN poured in the batter. Turned out great.

Love the idea and ingredients but am considering a different approach. What if you were to NOT cook the apple topping but layer the apples, butter and brown sugar in the BOTTOM of the pan, pour on the batter and do it a la pineapple upside down cake?

This cake is very good. My grandmother made it at a party and every one loved it. You literally had to wait to get a peice. My cousins would even make me stand in line to get them a peice because so many people were taking them. Even thought there were a lot of other desserts, everyone took this. I even had two peices!
